The Hospital Chaplaincy Team at the South West Acute Hospital (SWAH) in Enniskillen, together with colleagues from hospitals in Omagh and Derry City were honoured this week as part of the Western Health and Social Care Trust Awards for 2022/2023. They were highly-commended for the “Championing our Health and Wellbeing Award” . Others who were honoured included people working in social care, nursing care, surgery and those working as part of the pandemic vaccination campaign team.

The entire Chaplaincy Team across the hospitals were awarded the Chair’s Staff Recognition Award. Among the recipients were Monsignor Peter O’Reilly and Dean Kenny Hall of Enniskillen.

Speaking afterwards, Monsignor O’Reilly noted the significance of the award. ‘’As the responsibility for chaplaincy shifts from the parishes to the Trust, there is a deliberate effort to recognise the work of chaplaincy. It was an emotional experience for me to find ourselves recognised and appreciated with this significant award. In accepting it, I want to acknowledge all those who were here in Enniskillen and offered chaplaincy as part of their priesthood here.’
