In September 1957, the people of Ederney (Cuil Maine) parish celebrated the successful completion and dedication of St Joseph’s Church. This weekend, they mark sixty years of faith and worship, of reconciliation and renewal in the unending presence of God’s love in their lives and community.
The weekend began on Thursday 21 September by looking forward: the children, staff and entire school community of St Joseph’s Primary School marked the opening of their school year with the celebration of Eucharist in the church.
On Friday 22 September the community celebrated God’s forgiveness and love at a Service of Penance and Reconciliation at which the guest speaker was John Pridmore of St Patrick’s Community, Co Leitrim (author of “From Gangland to Promised Land”).
On Saturday 23 September is the Feast of St Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio). Our church is place of healing. The Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated at 11am and there will be a blessing with a Padre Pio relic.
On Sunday 24 September, the Day of the Lord’s Resurrection, a Commemorative Eucharist will be celebrated at 11am. The chief celebrant will be Monsignor Joseph McGuinness, Diocesan Administrator of the Diocese of Clogher. The Mass will be followed by refreshments in St Joseph’s Primary school. All are welcome!
